W-fest 2021 stands firm against Corona with the help of Ostend

  • 22 Mar, 2021

W-fest & Corona

It has been a year since we went into lockdown. Edition 2020 has been skipped, but for the upcoming, 5th edition -26 to 29 August- we are still more than hopeful.

You have noticed that our ticket sales have never stopped and that our line-up - the mainstream side of the original line-up - has been reconfirmed. The new wave side has moved - and been completed - to the new setting of Sinner's Day, today a valuable part of our organisation.

Why do we remain very hopeful for our festival summer?

W-fest is a medium-sized festival and can take place with a 'manageable' capacity. The site is over 34,000m² and can therefore accommodate quite a few people according to the most strict corona standards. Moreover, as an organisation we are convinced that we can meet all possible covid guidelines or measures that are imposed on us as a medium-sized festival. Of course, we are closely following the developments - before and behind the scenes - and together with all parties, government, partners, virologists, etc., we are looking for tools such as rapid tests, negative PRC tests and vaccination certificates such as the forthcoming C19 passport. We can already report that the government is working constructively on these and other solutions.

We still have to wait and see what the exact regulations will be this summer; we expect to know the final scenario by the end of April. For our festival, this timing is just in time to get everything organised. We are already at a very advanced stage of the planning of the festival, with various scenarios on the table. Be sure to follow our website and social media, we will keep you posted as soon as further details are available!

For the Sinner's Day enthousiasts, the same goes for the Sinner's Day special, as it is linked to W-fest (25/08) and the Sinner's Day festival itself - planned for the end of October - is completely safe in terms of dates.

Let's stick together and look forward to what will undoubtedly be the festival of the year, W-festival 2021. Until then, take care of yourself, your friends, family, acquaintances and everyone around you!
